CASKS

CASK AVAILABILITY

CASK AVAILABILITY: ANTLER DiISTRIBUTION offers a selection of casks available for purchase by private individuals. These casks are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Information regarding cask availability can be found on our website at www.antlerdistribution.com, or via email at [email protected].

THE CASK: The cask’s nominal volume will be recorded at the time of filling, with notifications sent to both you and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

CASK CONTENT: The Cask Order Form specifies whether peated or non-peated new make spirit is filled into the cask at a minimum spirit strength (ABV dependent on the distillery). Expect natural evaporation of approximately 5% per annum during maturation, with the possibility of higher evaporation rates. While ANTLER Distribution endeavours to select robust casks, occasional losses may occur due to leakage. In cases of significant loss due to leakage, the distillery, at its discretion, will provide a replacement cask with equivalent whisky of similar age. The alcohol by volume (% ABV) decreases with age as alcohol is more volatile than water.

CASK SAMPLES: Depending on the distillery, cask samples are available upon request for a fee, including UK postage. International shipping of samples may incur additional costs, and customs duties may apply. Responsibility for customs clearance and duty payment rests with the customer. In certain circumstances, a distillery may provide one 100ml sample at no charge when the legal cask owner visits the distillery in person, typically with a two-week notice requirement. Compliance with this one-sample-per-year policy is mandatory.

OWNERSHIP: This offering is tailored for individual customers or small private groups. To proceed with this arrangement, a designated point of contact will assume legal ownership of the Cask, as indicated above. All parties involved in the Cask purchase must meet the legal age requirements for consuming and purchasing alcoholic beverages. An active email address is mandatory for communication between the Owner and ANTLER Distribution, with the Owner bearing the responsibility of ensuring that ANTLER Distribution has an up-to-date email address. Should you decide to sell your Cask, it must first be offered to ANTLER Distribution at the original purchase price. In the event that ANTLER Distribution declines the offer or fails to respond within 21 days after receiving your intent to sell, ownership may be transferred to another specified individual, subject to written approval from ANTLER Distribution. Please note that casks owned by individuals should be acknowledged as assets in the owner’s will, with clear details of intended beneficiaries, if possible.

STORAGE: All casks are stored under bond at the distillery. Removal of your cask from bonded storage within ten years is only possible through special arrangements, subject to the distillery’s sole discretion.

BOTTLING: While ANTLER Distribution offers a bottling service, owners can opt for external bottling, provided the chosen bottler complies with Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs requirements. Owners must ensure compliance and provide evidence to ANTLER Distribution. ANTLER Distribution charges for dispatching whole casks off-site, whether duty-suspended or duty-paid. If the owner decides to remove the cask from the distillery, a refundable deposit for the wooden cask, as specified in the Cask Order Form at the time of purchase, must be paid to the distillery. This deposit will be refunded upon the return of the original cask in good condition, minus any bank or currency charges. Carriage costs to and from the distillery are the owner’s responsibility. The whisky must be bottled either at cask strength or at the distillery’s specified alcohol strength by volume (ABV). Many distilleries require their whisky to be non-chill filtered, with no added colouring. Label format and content must be agreed upon in advance, in writing, by ANTLER Distribution, subject to our sole discretion. Compliance with prevailing legislation is the sole responsibility of the owner. The label and packaging will indicate that the product was distilled, matured, and bottled at an ANTLER Distribution Distillery.

UK WAREHOUSE OWNERS AND WAREHOUSE GOODS REGULATIONS: To comply with the UK Warehouse Owners and Warehouse Goods Regulations (“WOWGR”), you are required to confirm that you are a private individual purchasing the filled cask for private consumption or gifting, and that the bottled Whisky produced from the Cask will not be sold or traded for profit. Payment for the cask or signing the Cask Order Form, whether by hand or digitally is considered confirmation of your compliance with WOWGR.
